One of the most common questions I get is “How do I add links to my website from a Squidoo lens?”. This is a good question because there is a right way and wrong way to do this in order to make your Squidoo lens dofollow.
When it comes to Squidoo, not all links are dofollow. For example, if you put in your website RSS feed or make a list of links, these will be nofollow and while they are nice to have on the lens (and you might get traffic from them too) the will not pass you any authority or link juice.
So how do you add links to your website from a Squidoo lens and get them to count as far as Page Rank goes?
It’s easy – you just add them to the text module. Here’s how to do it:
When you create or edit a Lens, one of the modules you can add is a text module. This is where you add your hyperlink.
What you do is you edit the text module and use the href code to create a hyper link. Here is a picture of one of my lenses and how I have added the hyperlink – see the area I circled in red?

To be specific, the code for a hyperlink is:
<a href=”YourWebsiteLink.com”>Your Anchor Text</a>
Obviously, you want to replace “YourWebsiteLink.com” and “Your Anchor Text” with the page you want to link to and the anchor text you want to use.
When you are done, you can save the text module and you should see the hyperlink on the lens just like in the picture below:

Don’t forget to publish your lens after you are done adding modules!
So, there you have it – that’s how I add links to my website from a Squidoo lens!

thanks, Im trying to find the exact information
may I ask you another question, do you know how to adda link with pictures?
I saw u just mention about text links
I’m actually not really sure if you can do that. The way Squidoo works, you import your picture and there doesn’t seem to be any way to get at the code. I’ve actually never really thought about adding a link to a picture in there – I’ll have to put that on my “look into” list!
You can’t add it in the first module…but can add url’s to any other text modules that you add.

I tried what you said and the backlink is actually dofollow but it pointed to my lens not my website……….Please help
You need to actually put in the url of your website as opposed to the url of your lens.
Thanks for the tips, I am looking for a way to make squidoo lens do follow, then I found this. In other article, I was found that you need to have proper grammar english text before the lens become do follow. Is it true?

Hmm.. you know what, I don’t actually know that! I know that they have no problems with non english lenses so I don’t know why it would not be do-follow. I’m sure it would still be only dofollow in the opening section the same as english ones.
I don’t know why it won’t work for me. I got the two images on my lens to hyperlink and I put the code in just as you said. I turned blue and it is underlined when I hover my mouse over any of the supposed links – but it doesn’t hyperlink. I am getting frustrated!! (: Can you help, please?

Thanks for the tip, I wasn’t sure if Squidoo allowed DoFollow links. Squidoo and Hubpages are two of my favorite sites, but I’ve been reluctant to use them because of the nofollow thing.

Sweet, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to sign up for squidoo or not because I wasn’t sure if their links were dofollow or not. Thanks for the post, gonna try them along with ezine now.

I have better luck ranking with hubpages rather than squidoo, but at the same time I really like the squidoo is dofollow off the bat, but hubpages requires you to have a 75 ranking (I believe?) in order for your links to go dofollow. I think squidoo is probably one of the easiest ways to get a decent dofollow backlink on the web.

I use squidoo for any site I start since it’s an easy way to pick up a backlink. However, I haven’t had much luck with any payouts and revenue from their site.

I don’t make a ton of money from there either, I actually donate half to the humane society but I use it more for link building and “getting the word out”
Thanks for the info.
Is there anything that can be done to get the backlink indexed quickly after publishing a lens? Is just pinging the lens sufficient enough.
You could try submitting the RSS feed of the lens to feedagg and goldenfeed.
Hello
A quick question. Do you think one lens on a subject or several lenses on a particular subject will work? Currently whenever I post an article or page on my site I create a lens or hub page linking to it. Just curious as to which method other people use.
BTW Thanks for all the great info you have provided LEE

Thanks for your kind words! I think the more lenses you can create the better! But since I am kind of lazy I usually only do one on a particular subject.
Hi, I’m trying to find everywhere answer to my problem: I created the hyperlink as you show here but when I see it just the underline and not address to the hyperlink. Please, help in that.
Example of my code:
The Children’s entertainer Clown Jeca with more…
My lens result:
http://www.squidoo.com/childrens-entertainer
thx in advance.

looks like it’s not formed correctly on the Suidoo lens, I can see the link but it seems like you cant click it. Maybe try copying the exact code from your blog and putting that in the lens?
ops, the code worked here: you see? How didn’t worked on there?

Are you sure only the links in the content text are dofollow and other links are nofollow?
Where is the reference regarding this?
Yep, well at least it was last time I checked. You can see for yourself by going to a squidoo lens, right clicking and doing “view pagesource” it will show you the attributes of the links.
Wow! I thought all links were “do follow”. Looks like I am going to have to do some rework.

Can I put a link from the picture in Squidoo? I’ve been looking for the solutions and yet to be found. I am building Katadyn Pocket site.
I dont think you can do that on a lens
It is not working for my lens
it isn’t working, whenever i try to add anchor text using this code Your Anchor Text and save changes it simply removes my link and leaves as your anchor text. maybe squidoo just dont allow backlinking anymore

I think they still do, but it sounds like maube you aren’t doing it properly?
thanks this helped me alot when writting lens/blogs, very usefull information Laser safety training UK
It still works just make sure you’re putting your link in the “your website link” section and don’t paste over the quotations. I had that problem. I’m wondering how to add anchor text to a squidoo title. When I try using this code it shows up until I publish and then it shows the whole code.

Do you still need at least three modules to make your link dofollow?
Dreamer recently posted..Learn how to lucid dream right now
Hmmm… I’m not sure about that I always make more than 3 anyway to make it interesting.
I cant get that working either, its not much googd for SEO if you cant use it in a link building strategy
That’s strange because I just made a lens last week and it worked fine for me. So, either you aren’t typing the code in correctly or it could be that you need to have a certain amount of squid points now to be able to do that. You might try poking around over there to find out if that is true and, if so, then build out a bunch of quality lenses and participate over there to build up your points.
Thank you for clarifying something I thought obvious. I thought the text module is the text space itself where you write your lens. Think I should start get my hand dirty on this.
Great post. I’ve been using Squidoo quite successfully recently to draw traffic to my own website but I was struggling to work out how to get anchor text onto my links – I didn’t actually realise that you could place the HTML code into a module! I guess it was kind of obvious but I never saw it. Thanks
I am wondering about the anchor links in the comments area. It seems that sometimes my link I leave in other lenses is there and sometimes its not.
My sig is this:
Cheers!
Gary @ Naples SEO
Sometimes it hyperlinked and sometimes it just says:
Cheers!
Gary @ Naples SEO
Is this something that the owner is changing or the site is doing? Is it random? Can you help me. Because I like to leave my sig exactly like that and would like to have a live link. It seems it s a hit and miss. Or if the lens has a purple star its almost never hyperlinked.
Whats your thoughts?
I think the owner could be changing it, I’m not sure because I’ve never gone back to check mine. Or maybe only certain levels of lenses have live links… I believe the comments links are no follow anyway so using anchor text really doesn’t buy you much.
really good post….keep on writing
