Or maybe only certain levels of lenses have live links… I believe the comments links are no follow anyway so using anchor text really doesn't buy you much. So, either you aren't typing the code in correctly or it could be that you need to have a certain amount of squid points now to be able to do that. You might try poking around over there to find out if that is true and, if so, then build out a bunch of quality lenses and participate over there to build up your points.
